On March 31, 2020, the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan announced a wide range of additional measures to support people and businesses during the COVID-19 crisis.
One of the notable measures includes an exemption from payroll taxes for a period of 6 months starting from April 1 for small and medium-size businesses operating in the following sectors of the economy:
➢ Public [food] catering/restaurant business;
➢ Selected trade sectors;
➢ Transportation services;
➢ Consulting services;
➢ IT sector;
➢ Hotel business;
➢ Tourism, etc.
The State of Emergency Committee will approve a detailed list of these sectors and will update if/when necessary.
The President also noted that depending on the state of the economy, additional measures could be considered in the future.
